Departure: Ålesund Pier
The Art nouveau town of Ålesund is a perfect starting point for excursions in the beautiful surroundings. It is the largest city in the province of Møre og Romsdal and it has a unique setting across several islands streching out into the Atlantic Ocean. Destroyed in 1904 by a devastating fire it is now noted for its concentration of Art Nouveau style. More than 400 buildings with this typical architecture, decorated with towers, turrets and imaginative and colourful ornaments can be found all around the center. The best place to have a spectacular panoramic view over the town and the surrounding area is from the city mountain Aklsa. Ålesund is also a very important fishing harbour and it is homebase for Norway`s largest cod-fishing fleet.
The village is situated on the north side of the island of Sula and lies across the centre of Ålesund, which is connected by a passenger ferry. Langevåg is surrounded by mountains up to 800 meters, forests, lakes and rivers.
Rollonhytta is a cabin built in 1924 situated on 400 meters above sea level on the mountain behind Langevåg. It is a popular tourist destination.
